I didn't hate the story because of romance, but because it was poorly made and it wasn't believable. Gunblade is over the top and looks stupid. The characters are forgettable (with the exception of Laguna), the battle system is fine (I like ATB) but I hate draws, junctionning and enemies leveling up along with you... They took away the point of leveling up. Stupid summons take forever and you need to fetch items to upgrade your weapons otherwise the characters are useless. Why did they mess it up so badly? >_
