It isn't amazing. It is just maths.
360 has been out for 3 years. That's 36 months. Which means (roughly) the average console has been in play for 18 months. 18 divided by 8 is ...
two-and-a-bit months
Do the same calculation for the other two consoles (not forgetting the delayed PS3 launch in Europe, which complicates the calculation a bit), and you get pretty well the same answer.

Oh, and there's no propaganda here. Emotionally I am all Nintendo but when it comes to numbers it is strictly objective.
