rps evolved from d and d. Then the computer rpgs and fantasy novels of the eighties. kotor is much more of an attempt to make a character driven rpg like an ssi goldbox rpg of the eighties or a jrpg than it is at making a more typical western rpg like morrowind or oblivion. however, for the reasons listed above it fails to do this as well as the other rpgs I mentioned.
