I have a customer interested int he ps3, they start talking to me about it, then they ask me if they can play their old games on it. After i say no, they ALWAYS start asking me about the other systems. By not being able to play the games they already have on it, it elminates any kind of loyalty these customers had towards that brand. They would be basically starting from scratch no matter which system they bought, so why get the ps3 when their kids want the wii? or the dad wants the 360? Ps3 loses at least 10 potential customers a day from just my store, now times that by how many game stores are out there and you will see just what kind of a screw up this was for sony. |
Yeah, I can relate.
One of my wifes freinds (a rabid PS2 gamer) saw my launch PS3 and was so impressed with the media functions and whatnot she went out and bought one.
Now she's pissed that it doesn't play PS2 games like mine can, so she has to have both her PS2 and PS3 hooked up.
Sony could always say "well you should have read the box first" but a dissapointed customer is a surefire way to avoid continued business.
