Some people seem to take the success of the Xbox brand for granted, and what it has been able to achieve, because it's M$. The fact is that Xbox was a complete longshot, and YES....had it not been M$, or some other company that enjoys deep pockets, it would have failed, but the odds were still strongly against the brand succeeding. Now, heading into this generation, there was a WIDELY held belief that the ps3 would handily smash Nintendo and M$ to a pulp….and second place was expected to be left to between those two. Now, looking on the surface, Wii looks to have been the real winner, but 360 has held its own, and topping the sales of the previous console, with more steam in it’s boilers, the 360 looks to nearly double the LTD of the original Xbox….that is HUGE. Whatever the next generation brings, the Xbox family will be in the thick of things for top console, and that, in of itself is a huge level of success.
