Gaming - RE5 Rocks! - View Post

There is a cover system, but it's very rudimentary.

Unlike RE4 when the only projectile-enabled enemies were the fat guys with the chainguns, you've a LITTLE more variety this time. Enemies with machine guns have a laser sight equipped so you can see where they are aiming.

In the handful of situations when you face these guys, you'll have walls you can hide behind. Context sensitive commands come up reading 'take cover'. From there, you pull the Left Trigger to lean out. It doesn't add much to the game at all.

As for the 'COVER' next to Sheva's name in the HUD, I still don't know how it works or what it is supposed to do. I am almost done with the game, and I don't know how, when or where that 'cover' is ever supposed to change. It's certainly not part of the cover system or related to hiding mechanics.

Ive played and beat the game and dont understand the cover under Sheva's name either. Im thinking there is an option to change her AI control. But it is not in the menu's. Perhaps such a thing can be unlocked.

Anyhow now that I have beat the game I am much more pleased with it than I was with RE4.  At least the original one on the Gamecube.

RE5 has much more replay value.  They make it easier to go back and play the previous chapters and get money to upgrade the weapons.  Moreover the Mercenaries mini game is vastly improved.  Aside from being able to do them Co-op, they are now treated like mini-missions.  But there arent a many characters to choose from. Just the same ones with several outfits.
