Who's us? If by us you mean Nintendo fans, then yes, most Nintendo fans around here anyway seem to think the SNES games were better. Does it have something to do with the system they were on? Nostalgia? Many factors could go into that.

Fact is, FF VII and FF X are the two best selling FF followed by the other versions that came out on PS and PS2. The only PS or PS2 FF game that didn't outsell every single FF game on the SNES was the FF Tactics game which is understandable but still sold very well.

So if you go by sales which are a pretty good indication of how many people were into the games than the PS and PS2 FF games are more popular than the old SNES games.

I don't think anyone is trying to argue which game is the most popular ckmlb.  We are simply talking about our personal preferences.

As far as nostalgia being a factor: Yes that has something to do with FFIV being one of my favorites to be sure.  However, I can still go back and play FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and FFIX and enjoy them more than most RPGs. The sign of a truly great game is that it's fun even when it's 15 years out of date.  In fact, I am playing FFIX again right now.  I'm about 15 hours in, and I'm loving every minute of it.
