NBA '98 was released in 1997, before any of those shooters, even 2 years before UT and CS (and I think CS1.6/source are much more recent) Besides, I would not describe CS as one of the shooters with shiny graphics with bad gameplay, so I don't see how that is relevant.
If you're still playing gears 12 years after its release, then it would be the equivalent to my situation
