Listening from other people that watched and read the novel they left out many things and made some subtle changes but I still felt like I got the whole story and wasn't really left with any questions.

Don't listen to the negative reviews, it's a really good movie. My only guess for the negative reviews (I haven't read them, didn't want spoilers) was that they just aren't use to anti-heroes and that is what this movie is about.

Just a few words of caution-- it's fucking long so don't get a drink and be prepared for violence. Also, there's an abundance of dong.

 

 Spot on. I've read the novel and of course details hadto be left out, and fighting scenes were more lengthened, but overall the atmosphere and storyline were pretty spot on. The ending was change of course because they had to cut a lot of what made the ending in the novel. It would've been too hectic and confusing to try and translate same ending, especially when the end result is the same.

 

Spoiler alert: The comedian did not kill JFK in the novel. That was ridiculous and unneeded. That was the only over the top thing they added from transition from print to screen.
