Brown is a terrible victim of poor circumstance. I personally agreed with his constitutional reform and social ideas more than Blair's (by social ideas I mean equality of opportunity, education and health, not civil liberties), but they've had to be put on hold thanks to this recession.
Brown needs the support of the people, else he could develop a bunker-mentality like most prime ministers do, and that's not good for anyone.
