I went to Canada on a class field trip years ago. Leaving the country was great, a lady gets on the bus and asked where we were going, what we wanted to do, and if we had any firearms on the bus. Making a few jokes with everybody, she smiled and left and we were free to cross into Canada.
On the way back into the country, the experience was totally different. The bus driver warned everybody to not speak otherwise they might not let us back into the country for a while (he even gave a story of how the bus was stuck for hours because somebody said something). A guy gets on the bus looking like he's extremely pissed off. He yells for everybody to get out their papers like we were criminals (we were all a bunch of high school kids). After inspecting everybody's papers, and asking a few questions, he finally gives the go ahead and we can reenter the country.
Though it is the job of the border guard to be cautious and such, we'll have to see where this goes and see more sources for any additional details.

Fortunato figured the officer wouldn't make good on the threat, since he wasn't being abusive or threatening to the officer.
