Exactly. Sure the "theory" of benefits would be there, but having the game leak out a day early at ONE retailer (notice I did not say one store as you misinterpreted), with only whomever happens to own a PS3/360 and be in the shop that very day will likely know and have a chance to get it, and then if they really do favor the PS3 more as you say, you still think any decent amount of people would make the switch to the 360 because of this one multiplatform game?
Your original argument was worded as an insult on his intelligence and gave the impression that you thought this would benefit Microsoft a lot, but even if 1000 copies are sold early to the 360, I'm pretty sure Microsoft would see that as no benefit at all. There is no way Microsoft would somehow sneak in and make one retailer launch the game 1 day early. They are not that desperate, and the very small (theoretical) benefits just wouldn't make it worth it.
You were arguing on behalf of the "Microsoft must have paid/persuaded them to do this!" side. We were showing you why Microsoft would have no reasonably sized benefits from this, thus making some costly stunt would not be worth it, and this whole conspiracy theory was an utter joke. I think that is all coasterlove and myself were trying to say. You've taken it to even finer detail now and are claiming that even a very small benefit is a benefit, and while true, it would not justify the costs and the plans associated with doing something like releasing the game one day early at one retailer.
