"They've been wasting God knows how many resources making the Play On Wii series of remade Gamecube games, which knowing Nintendo, probably took a good 5-6 months of full development time with debugging, and were made by their *gasp* top internal teams(I was shocked by this)."
That doesn't mean it's eating into their original development. It just means they put a team on there. We don't even know if that's eating up all their time, or if they have room to multitask.
There is this huge fallacy that ports are expensive (hence part of the hate for DR CTYD, which remade the gameplay but ported the assets). They are not. They are dirt cheap, even if you put your top teams on them (DR CTYD merely doesn't cover up that it didn't cost a lot).
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
