No need to exclude games here. Everquest was an absolute mess of a game. The original one was absolutely terrible by modern standards. It just got lucky by being in the right place at the right time. SOE is easily the weakest part of the first party software development team. They had a few stellar designers on staff (Scott Hartsman needs to be working on a game yesterday!!!) but they have all moved on to greener pastures.
