Pretty calm trading deadline this year, compared to years past. J-Bo's nonmove was really the only thing that surprised me.

Big winner (short term) I think was Calgary. They picked up a very serviceable top 4 D-man in Leopold, someone who they have experience with. And they pick up the biggest name that was traded today, Jokinen. Both moves were probably done due to injuries to Lankgow, and the fact that Calgary's D is very beaten up, but this makes their team quite formidable I think. SJ and Detroit now have some serious competition.

Big winner (long term) I think was Phoenix. They turned Jokinen, Carcillo and Morris into Kalinin, Dawes, Prucha, Lombardi, Prust, Upshall, 1st rounder and 2nd rounder. Pretty good lot of young players they picked up for 2, soon-to-be, UFA's.

Were there any losers? Not really in my mind. Maybe Minnesota, a tiny loser, for not being able to get rid of Gaborik, but since he's injured, the offers probably weren't very good, if there were any at all. His value decreased heavily from the beginning of the year. Do you think he wishes he took the $7M/year offer from Minni now........because I can't see any sane GM giving him anything close to that.....unless it's due to performance bonuses.
