| Bursche said: How big is the college you plan on going too? Most smaller colleges don't have fraternities, and if they do, they're on the smaller side. I go to Florida State and we have an active greek life and I'm in a social fraternity. There are others too that are more to your tastes, business/professional fraternities, and even a few Christian fraternities. Those have socials and parties too, but not nearly as much as an actual social fraternity. I didn't drink before coming to college last fall, but now I do. I usually only drink at my fraternity, but thats because many of my brothers are over 21 and beer is accessible. But I dont do it often. One of my brothers actually doesn't drink at all, so its not uncommon to be in a social fraternity and not drink. No one will pressure you, but being around a bunch of drunken guys on a friday night is less fun sober. |
It has about 1500 people. It is also fairly christian- I don't know the exact number but I am pretty sure that 60-80% of the people are christian. Also there is a large minority of jewish people. The college is also extremely conservative (probably a 80/15/5 split between conservative/moderate/liberal) if that does anything to drinking rates. The college does have a frat system; from what I know, there is a frat that doesn't require you to live in a house, does more outreach than the others, and is sort of the center of the social scene. There is also a frat that has alot of music lovers, and another thats big on drinking. I think there is also a new one just this year, but I don't know anything about the 4th frat really. I think its supposed to be for stuidous people. I'll probably rush every one of them but the drinking one.
