I definitely like the nod to Chrono Trigger's music, and I think it's a pretty unique event in JRPG music, when a game manages to draw and build off of elements from an older game, but still manage to find its own style and feel like it isn't a falling-off from the greatness of the first game. (Compared to a series like Final Fantasy, where the musical scores still have their high points like Zanarkand or You're Not Alone, but seem to be getting less consistently great and less important to the game, with each new installment).
Despite the fact that I only played Chrono Cross for the first time a few years ago, I still put the game in my PS2 every once in a while just to hear the opening music. So I'm with you on that one : )
