Why are people so threatened by the Wii?

Personally, I'm more interested in social gaming. Not so much as in MMOs, but having groups of people playing together. I love games like Wii Sports or Guitar Hero where people gather together and everyone can partake in the entertainment.

I want to see how far developers can push the envelope in terms of getting people to interact with each other. Imagine if they can make a game like twister but combine it with video gaming elements. To me that is cutting edge stuff. Social gaming is an area that has yet to be truly exploited.
