Sharky54 said: What about 800,000 people playing starcraft over 10 years after it came out. Thats impressive 300,000 people of 9 million who bought it really is crap for a game with "lasting power" Where did I say there was still halo hype? People buy halo because they are told to. It is that simple. |
Your two numbers are ridiculous comparisons. 300,000 people a day play Halo 3. Dos that mean 300,000 people total? No, real people with jobs don't nessecarily have time to play everyday.
As for 800,000 playing SC, #1 StarCraft was a phenomenon, and to date has sold more than Halo 3 - On top fo that, it's an RTS, a strategy that classically can hold people for more hours than a FPS. Lastly, your number isn't an apples to apples comparison. 800,000 people a day aren't playing SC. Maybe 800,000 active players, but Halo 3 easily has over a million active players, just not people that play every day.
(Also, noone anywhere plays SC offline these days... whereas Halo 3 over LANs, split screen, and Coop, is still popular)
