Well I'm from the US (California), so maybe it's not that big of a surprise, haha. 
Just been living here for a year now.
I don't really know it just doesn't seem that big at all. The only ppl I know w/a 360 are ppl from other countries, besides JP. Game releases are usually later, besides the JP games. Hell I'm still waiting to get Madden 08, it finally gets released next week!! 
The Elite 360 is barely going to be launched next month(Oct.), etc.
