I'd say it depends how old you are. I would say for a 30 year old, rich would mean you have at least $1,000,000 in savings, not including home equity. I would say poor would mean you have little or no savings, and don't have considerable equity either. Most poor people in the U.S. are elligable for welfare. A lot of Americans aren't rich or poor. (IMO it makes more snese to be able to spend time w/ family and be "middle class" than work all the time and be rich but have no life outside of working)
