I am in the Marines and here on the base the exchange (mini-mall), received Halo Wars shipments 2 weeks early. Well, as has happened before with some games, one of the stock boys/girls put out all the copies on the shelves 2 weeks early. As expected all the copies flew off the shelves before I could snag one, however, one of the Marines in my shop got a copy and lent it to me this weekend. I have the collectors edition coming on Tuesday, but wanted to get my Halo Wars on a bit early.
All I can say is WOW!. I am a big RTS guy, owning dozens of PC RTS games. I have tried every console RTS game up to this point, coming away with nothing but......disappointment. I can honestly say that this is the best RTS game on console, hands down, and one of the best RTS games I have played in a while.
The game is very simplistic in nature, but extremely entertaining. I am only 1-2 levels from beating it. The CGI story cut-scenes are some of the best I have seen in gaming, and the story is amazing. Being a big fan of the Halo universe it is nice to get a little background on the History of the War with the Covenant. No spoilers here, but one of the best CGI scenes I have seen in gaming takes place around mission 15 or so......it is truly Epic for us Halo fans (Spartans kicking major ass). Hopefully it will show up on YouTube soon, so others can link it, and experience its awesomeness.
Please, do yourself a favor, if you are even contemplating getting this game, PICK IT UP! The multi-player and replay value alone makes this game a must own for RTS/Halo fans............ENJOY
