Anyway, there is very little chance of this happening.
MS is making decent profits from the EDD division, which includes substantial Zune losses. MS has no reason to leave the console business when everything is going so well.
Apple has a viable competitor to the DS, so Nintendo cannot have a portable monopoly. To suggest that the Iphone/Ipod touch might be discontinued is laughable
Video game hardware sales have been increasing since the NES days, back in the 3rd generation there was only enough of a userbase for one successful console. 4th gen saw 2 main competitors, 5th saw 3, but the market could not support it. 6th saw 3 and could support all of them, but only just. The 7th sees 3, and all 3 could have been profitable if not for certain decisions made. The 8th is more likely to see 4 competitors than it is 2. Even if Sony leaves, they would be replaced in the home console race by Acti-Blizzard, Apple or someone else, and in portables by MS or a successful Phone company
