That's exactly the thing. GT on PSP would sell 2m and make a nice profit. With PS3 in last place and GT5 having a 5 year development cycle it's profit margin will be very limited - especially from what the initial expectations would have been when they began. Sony exists for one thing - profit. If they can make more profit off of selling PSP and PSP games than PS3s (which lose them money) and PS3 games (which are tremendously expensive compared to PSP) then business wise it makes more sense to shift the majority of their resources that way. With Sony merging SCE in with other divisions it's like saying the PS brand is no longer the dominate focus just one of many Sony brands in a field. And right now, above all else, Sony needs to achieve profitability. And it's starting to look like Sony is seeing the PSP as being able to deliver that - but not necessarily the PS3. We'll see at E3. If 90% of new games announced are PSP then you know the PS3 is being unofficially retired. |
GT5 already paid itself, the GT5:P already covered the devs cost easily, PS3 looks to have its best year game wise so far, i dont see it slowing down at all.
