1080p - 1920x1080 res and best hd format right now. p means progressive meaning every dot on the screen flashed to display motion (#1 choice)
1080i - same res as 1080p. i means interlaced. instead of little dots flashing itslittle bars which cuts it to basically 540i. not good when watching fast motion things (#3 choice imo)
720p - same as 1080p but smaller res (#2 imo) pretty sure its 1280x720 res
