2008 was the PSP's strongest year ever building upon the momentum created by the 2000 hardware revision. This has led to developers re-embracing the platform. Additionally, it appears that Sony is devoting enough 1st/2nd party development to prevent another disasterous lull in the PSP's release schedule. I guess the 3000 model being pretty much unhackable doesn't hurt developer interest either.
