Yet another thread where I had to dole out moderations to some folks who couldn't keep a handle on their comments.
Again I will take the time to point out that having an opinion and being vocal about it is not a problem (yes even when that opinion is controversial so long as you remain respectful in your comments). What is a problem is when people deviate from the substance of the issue and begin making it personal or unnecessarily inflammatory.
Whats more just because your comments are not about a member on this site it should be readily apparent that if your comments go so far as to be legitimately offensive to members of this site it still violates forum rules and will be dealt with accordingly.
Some of you take this to mean you get to jump on this person and attack them yourself, but this is not the case either and you need to report them and move on rather than escalating a potential conflict.
All in all, things weren't too bad for a 3 page (50 posts per page) thread, and it could have been a lot worse. I'm actually pretty proud of a number of members who had issues in the past with getting personal who have remained cool and substantive here and hopefully those that had an issue this time will learn for next time.
