I don't think the niche-appeal console is going to be getting any sort of lead on the console that went for extreme mainstream appeal. Even if every single dedicated gamer decided to get a PS3 in the next 3 to 5 years, the numbers would still be highly in favor of the Wii, thanks to mainstream gamers. It's that inescapable conclusion which made PC gamers in the late 1980s foam with rage as the NES clobbered the C64 and Amiga in sales: there's always more of "them" than there are of "us".
