Man, Hus, you're almost as funny as you are wrong. Dragon Quest has *generally* sold poorly in the US because the games in the series were either released in the NES era, when RPGs had yet to gain a significant following or were a hugely traditional and non-cinematic game in a country that didn't understand the tradition and was still shitting itself over FMV. (That one was also one of the most hardcore RPGs of that generation, and in terms of gameplay depth and difficulty was leagues more mature than VII-IX) That leaves one game (VIII) to establish a franchise that doesn't have a history of mainstream popularity in the US, in an era swamped with RPGs. Its lack of sales had nothing to do with its "kiddy" (or not) nature, and in fact it sold pretty well all things considered (nearly 500k).
