And of course you have a right to see offense in anything. It isn't so much a right as a response, kindled by your upbringing, but I'll grant you that part.

Where your 'right' ends though, American or not, is where it interferes with other people's rights. Especially the rights to roam the earth and perhaps even Xbox Live without fear.

Hey, for all you know the lady in question may be American too. Means she has rights, don't it?

 

I'm not really offended by it.  Sure if the stereotypical gay guy comes up and hardcore sexual harrases me, I'll be offended, but for the normal guy or gal that is gay, I have no problem with it.  I do not hate on them, I was just using an example.

No one was discriminating her.  They were not saying she had to be afraid of harrasment or discrimination.  She simply violated the terms of service.  It's sad that people with actual names like Gaywood have to have their gamertag changed, but the simple fact remains that it is just against their ToU.  The words gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, straight, etc. all have sexual connotations.

So every word that can be found in the dictionary should be allowed in every aspect of communication?  Profane/vulgar words should be allowed?  Hmmm... seems like quite a few, religious or not, are offended by vulgar words.  The word "nigger" is in the dictionary, so that must mean it is ok to call anyone that, correct?  It must be perfectly acceptable to use in any context.

It does not matter where the text is located.  If it has sexual connotations, it's ban worthy, regardless of the meaning behind it.  No one can look at those words and not make a sexual connection...

Ok first of all the word "nigger" is used on Live REGURARLY and no one gets in trouble for it....as long as its not in your profile it dint happend.

Second of all the word "nigger" has been used as a negative term for hundreds of years.... while lesbian was never used as a negative term unless the person has something against lesbians... or apparantly you....

third of all i can walk into a full room of people and yell "lesbians" and people will just think im crazy... if i yell "nigger" on the other hand i would be called a racist and probably get my ass kicked

 

Pay attention.  It includes voice communication.  Use the freaking reporting system and feedback system and they will be held accountable!  Gosh...

I already said it does not offend me.  I'm merely trying to show you the hypocrisy and idiocy of your ways.

Also, everyone that is saying "people who are offended by gays/lesbians should just stop".  You have no right to tell other people what they can or cannot be offended by, or what they have to accept.  Everyone is different.  But, since this is not even the issue, we should probably stop talking about it.

I'll make this nice and big so EVERYONE understands:

This woman was not banned for being a lesbian!!!!  This is not about discrimination!! She was banned for having text in the profile which relates to, hints at, is a topic of, or stands for something of sexual nature.

I think we can all agree that lesbian, gay, bisexual, etc all relate to, hint at, or is a TOPIC of sexual nature.

Replace "sexual nature" with "homosexual nature" and you'd be right on the money.

The gamertag "StripClubDJ" is more sexual than the word "lesbian."  When you think of a StripClubDJ, you think of somebody playing music for naked people to jiggle their tits and bums to.  Some people find that offensive but it is allowed on XBoxLive because their main demographic is 12 year old boys who think tits and bums are 1337.  When you think of a lesbian, you can think of 2 girls holding hands, or 2 girls kissing.  Maybe YOU immediately think of 2 sinful tarts slamming their vaginas together, and are offended, but that's YOUR problem, not the problems of lesbians everywhere.

Being lesbian means you emotionally/romantically prefer women over men and isn't related to who you actually have sex with.  For example, let's say that me, a married man, has sex with my wife and only my wife and I never cheat on her.  But I don't love her and I feel trapped in a loveless marriage and the only person I can trust is my internet boyfriend.  I tell him everything, and I tell my wife nothing.  And I dream about going on adventures and vacations with him, but I don't fantasize about sex with him.  In this case, I'm falling in love with a man, but I'm having sex with a woman.  Does that make me gay, straight, bi, or something else?  Or does it mean my heart is gay and my penis is straight, so I have some sort of "disjuntive" sexuality?  I'm just trying to make it clear that one's sexuality is based on who they love, not on who they have sex with.  The word "lesbian" means you love women, and tells you nothing about their sex life.

 

 

And to everybody offended by lesbians, are you offended by 5 year old lesbians?  Or are you only offended by lesbians old enough to go on the internet and say "I am a lesbian" because they somehow infringed on your right to browse the entire internet without ever reading that word?
