| Hephaestos said: 1) the game is not close to many hearts... #1 sold 3M and the others less and less.... 2) the pictures shown would have me believe that GoW2 was better than 3..... the images of 3 are full of blur.... (I like the games though, I have all 3 ^^) |
This is a classic case of placing WAY too much importance on sales of a game. Games of this genre, generally don't have the replayability factor of a multi-player or anything else other than replaying different difficulty levels/ coming back months or years later to enjoy the experience again.
How many rentals of the God of War series was there? As well as used copies bought? I guarantee you, that a lot more people have played and beat the game than the number sold.
Since you like sales so much (Here are comparable genre games) and their respective metacritic ratings.
Ninja Gaiden (Around 1 million--- 91) Ninja Gaiden II (0.99 Million--- 81) Average : 86
Devil May Cry 1 (2.77 million--- 94) DMC2 (1.69 million---68) DMC3 (1.92 million---84) Average : 82
Onimusha (2.46 million--- 86) Onimusha 2 (2.14 million---84) Onimusha 3 (1.34 million---85) Average : 85
Prince of Persia (1.88 million--- 92) Warrior Within (1.40 million--- 83) Two Thrones(0.54 million--- 85) Average : 86.6
God of War I (3.21 million--- 94) God of War II (2.44 million--- 93) Average : 93.5
Do we really need to degrade God of War based on sales? It's a very, very successful and respected series for it's genre and well sold series.
