The latter. When i was really feeling ill some time ago, I realized it's best to just give your stomach a lot of rest and eat stuff that doesn't go all out on your stomach. I had the exact same thing with feeling stuffed in your stomach so you just need to try and eat some crackers. It's not bad if your stomach doesn't get food all the time, at least not for 1-2 days.
