Ignoring all arguments to the contrary... even if you are right.
All the magic makers are gone. They've all been run out of SE by Wada. Even Matsuno who was only apart of games you hated. (Depending on your opinion of Final Fantasy Tactics.)
They weren't willing to go with Squares "Care only about the money" philosophy.
Even Matsuno who admitted that games like FF Tactics and Vagrant Story were attempts by him to dumb down and simplfy the stories of his previous games so more gamers would like and buy them.
The magic makers are gone. Even if they decided now to go back to creativity and good story first.... who would make it? |
No offense dude, but you have no clue.
Yoshinori Kitase, Hiroyuki Itou, Kazushige Nojima, Tetsuya Nomura, Yoshitaka Amano, Shinji Hashimoto, Akitoshi Kawazu, Toshiro Tsuchida, Masashi Hamauzu.
Are just to name a few. Although I guess ironically these names dont tell you anything.

The names tell me plenty. None of them were the visionaries behind the NES-SNES games. The versions of the games Twesterm see's as good. The ones that did work on them had mostly minor roles.
The only one you could really make an argument about is Kitase... and even so only with Chrono Trigger where his role is more minor then it seems since CT was produced differently.
Believe me I was a Square Fanboy from NES through PS1 era. Though after FF7 sucked I stopped buying their Final Fantasy games... the rest of the games SE made on the PS1 were pretty good.
Well aside from Chrono Cross too.
So yeah.... you don't know what your talking about.

Uh oh. No, I do.
Kitase is the one behind FFVI's scenario, and also is its director. Saying that his role in its development was minor perfectly shows how much you know. Takashi Tokita, the man behind FFIV and Parasite Eve games, also still works at SE. And surprisingly, FFIV and FFVI are considered the best entires in the series on a Nintendo platforms.
You can dig deeper and find out that pretty much everyone from FFIV-VI development team other than Sakaguchi and Uematsu, are still working at SE. Including those who actually wrote the storylines for those games.

Kitsase didn't write the actual storyline. He was given the storyline and worked around it.
You may have me on Tokita though.
