No one is arguing it isn't. However, they did it because it was their music, it was their album, they did what they wanted, which doesn't make them sellouts. As for Death Magnetic, I like it, it rocks but "The Day That Never Comes" and "The Unforgiven III" aren't metal tracks, they are definitely hard rock. So I guess they aren't living up to their name "Metallica".

Everything in the 90's was shit? Megadeth made Rust in Peace in 1990 (their beast album IMO) and Countdown to Extinction in 1992. Testament released The Ritual (best album IMO) in 1992. Dream theater did Images and Words. Symphony X realeased The Divine Wings of Tragedy (which is not only their best album but one of my all time favorite records. And Meshuggah released Destroy Erase Improve and Chaosphere. I could go on and on about widely praised and influential albums from the 90's, so to say it's all shit is a bit of an unfair generalization. Also personally I find Master of Puppets to be Metallica's worst album even though I know many, many, MANY people will disagree with me.
