That's no reason to dislike pantera, that's just a reason to dislike those who hail him as the greatist guitarist ever. I agree that he is overrated as i'm not a big fan of his solos, but he had a real talent for coming up with very creative rhythms and should be given due credit in that regard.
As for my personal favorites: Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, Symphony X, Shadow Gallery, Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, Judas priest, Dream theatre, Def Leppard and Aryeon.
