none of the DQ or KH series is AAA....so if you talk about amazing JRPG...it's a misconception...only amazing games that are going to be if you go by rating are probably going to be FF series...and maybe one random JRPG...so in that sense...even last gen has been mediocre if not worse than this gen...the difference between last gen and this gen is the quantities of different games that have been coming out... |
DQ8 and KH2 last gen received as good reviews as the 3 you listed in Japan (if not better)... they are definitely AAA.

So far thats good considering KH2, FFXII and Dragon Quest 8 came out late in the consoles's lifecycle or were sequels to games already released in that generation. Also, of course, the Final Fantasy's aren't out yet (Versus and XIII).
