Hmmm.
I understood it differently.
Expecially since I remember a skit about a story 2 cheagles, one was a replica the other was real.
The real one was dying after awhile but the replica decided to give his life for the real one because he was the only friend he knew inside their captivity. The replica died, and the real one got better and also had the replica's memories.
Of course he was still the real cheagle, not the replica.
I just assumed that's what luke did, then Asch with luke's memory still met up with them at the promised place.
In a way Luke is really dead but his memories still lives on in Asch and Luke, in a way, lives on there.
I like bitter sweet endings. Also it means a love triangle between Tear, Natalie and Asch. haha
Also, how's the anime adaptation? Is it worth watching/any good?
