1. Sony dropping backward compatibility with the PS2. This was one of several mis-steps, back-steps, side-steps by Sony (remember rumble was so last generation, the attempts at motion control in games, the eye toy replacement, the price points). But this is the only one that changed my mind about whether to rush out and buy a console or to wait until next generation and pick one up on the cheap.

2. Microsoft's hardware issues. Nothing has scared me off of buying an Xbox 360 than the RROD. This is especially true since I tend to get things on the used market. The 360 has a wonderful lineup and Xbox Live can be a great place and has interesting offerings. But if you have to worry everytime you turn your console on whether or not today is the day it is going to stop working, then Redmond we have a problem.

3. The anti-Wii attitude. I am not sure if this is caused by fear or ignorance. But the Wii has drawn a lot of negative reactions from people -- players, press, providers, etc. Two things get me about this. First, many of the players who bash it do not own the console and may not have ever tried the console -- and don't give a reason for their disdain other than "The Wii is for kiddies." (If someone provides an argument about what they don't like, that is fine.). Similarly, I have seen reviewers knock points off of scores just because the Wii is not HD. And many developers still don't seem to understand that you can make a variety of games for the system and instead want to treat it as a cash cow for larger (and sometimes money losing) projects on the other consoles. Generally, these complaints all say the same thing -- the Wii is not the same as the PS3 and Xbox 360. Of course, that is why it has outsold the PS3 and Xbox 360 combined since its release.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
