There's no reason to think that devs will ignore the PS3, merely because the Wii exists. If the raw numbers are there, and there's a vacuum on the PS3, publishers will look to fill that void. If the PS3 does well enough in Japan, there *will* be JRPGs on it, simply because there will be a market for them.

Publishers will not "exclude" the Wii from development considerations, merely because they are making PS3 games, of course. However, the PS3 demographics have proven much more targetable, and with significant numbers -- and that's not a majority, not by a longshot -- Japanese publishers will begin to make PS3 JRPGs because the money is there, plain and simple.

That's not to say they will make PS3 games to the exclusion of Wii games.  That's ridiculous, unless the Wii proves a titanic RPG demographic flop, which I highly doubt (in Japan).  If the Wii RPG demographic outnumbers the PS3 RPG demographic by 2-to-1, there will end up a 2-to-1 ratio in JRPGs, most likely.  Competition is bad, if you're looking to make money.

(Aiemond) Please clarify what is so hard to understand about that statement, if you don't understand it.  They are not "splitting their fanbase".  Do you think every PS3 owner in Japan owns a Wii, and would if the PS3-to-Wii ratio was closer, like 2-to-1?  And do you think that they would prefer Wii JRPGs over PS3 JRPGs, given a choice?  I have a feeling the controller won't do much for JRPGs, unlike Sports, etc. genres..  Even in outrageous situations like "all PS3 owners also have a Wii", what reason is there for you to think that publishers don't compete, and that if publisher A makes 4 Wii JRPGs, and publisher B makes 1 PS3 JRPG and 2 Wii JRPGs, that publisher B won't come out on top, given market saturation conditions, and quality comparisons?
