The one iffy thing about the Wii is third party sales in Japan. They've been absymal, with flop after flop. PS3 isn't exactly setting the world alight but you can see there is chance for successes - White Knight Chronicles did well, Demon Souls seem to have exceeded expectations, there are other exampls I tend to forget. Most devs will just keep with the PSP and DS ahead of Wii and PS3, but I'm sure a few will choose PS3. Afterall they've got the Final Fantasy market to feed off after XIII releases, and if planning on going for the western market too can feed of 360's RPG fanbase? We've not really see any RPG's on the Wii or PS3 yet outside of Japan so it's too hard to judge, I'd guess third parties don't know either. It seems to make more sense just keeping their support on the DS though :/. |
Well, for ps3 you have wkc and you have ffxii and vs13. For wii you have tales of 10, dq X, Arc Rise Fantasia. Those are the bigger ones right now. And wii third party sales are not worse than ps3 ones. WKC showed ps3 can sell 300k of a super hyped game, but wii showed it can sell about 220k of a low budget spin off with ToSDOTNW.
We need to see more games come out, but there is no real reason to think ps3 sells more games than wii. When ARF comes out I think we will see more of how it goes. Plus, as for ffxiii, DQX sells more units and systems in japan :P
Edit: Here is a good list of the rpgs we know are coming to the wii.
