Common sense isn't very common in this case, but still logic would dictate that the larger consumer base or the higher rate of business is on the Wii platform in that region specifcally, ignoring that is bad business, which a lot of japanese gaming companies are fond of reminding consumers that they are a business not a creative mechanism and certainly not both.
Your best bet sir is to own a both platforms, if your a jrpg guy, then Wii would be the better bet in the long term - if your willing to wait. If your looking for HD then obviously PS3 is where you should invest your time and wealth.
Just understand that JRPGS on the Wii will be many and few in between will be quality in your perception, while the PS3 may have few in between all of that software being released that are JRPG but they may be what your looking for, as the PS3 is in essence the PS2 with HD as far as gaming goes.
