In the 20th manga volume, Arakawa announced that a second Fullmetal Alchemist anime television series is currently being produced. Bones will once again produce the new series with Yasuhiro Irie as main director.[32][33] Premiere is expected at April 5, 2009 in Japan with the same name as the previous series,[34] and it was also confirmed that voice actors Romi Paku and Rie Kugimiya will reprise their roles as the main characters Edward and Alphonse Elric respectively.
