The media are blowing the stabbings way out of proportion, and it pisses me off when they do that. The majority of streets are safe to walk at night, and the majority teenagers are safe to approach, but the media's approach has turned the nation against a generation.

This kind of stuff just leads to illogical legislation, like the Dangerous Dogs Act.
Fortuneatly, at the moment, they are fixated on blaming Brown for the economy, and so they have moved on from teenage stabbings, like how they moved on from immigration, like how they moved on from paedophiles.

Generally I would agree, but I know way too many people who have been mugged, assaulted, stabbed etc to feel safe in certain areas.

Well, you do come from a city area, where crime is certainly much higher. But I live in a village, where these things never happen, and yet everyone is still scared by it all.

Yeah id be surprised if that sort of thing went on in villages

Generally Iv reached an age where I'm not a target for the typical rudeboy mugger, but that doesn't mean I wont put my hood up and walk in a more confident way as I pass a group of em. I feel safe around my area, but thats mainly as I know quite a few of the thugs through other people but having to walk through Brixton with a phone and an iPod on you can be pretty nerve racking.
