General - I hate Nintendo!!! - View Post

I was playing Metroid Fusion, a game which I have completed with 99% completion many times before. On this play-through, I found the 'last' item which I had missed on previous runs, and now I only had one item to pick up in another area (which I knew the location of) before I could finish with 100% and see the best ending. So I was happy.

Then I thought; "I'll go into this save & recharge station to refill health before I go." I walked into the recharge station - fine. I walked into the save station next to it - fine. I walked back into the recharge station to go back to where I was - and there was an impenetrable block over the door. In fact, these walls had appeared everywhere across the map, separating me from that upgrade and meaning, yet again, I have to settle for 99% completion.

The reason it happened is because I was on my "final" mission, and once you go through certain doors you can't go back and stray off the mission path. I didn't know this, and all I did was to walk into a recharge station.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!

OK, I feel better now. I don't really hate Nintendo, but that was the single worst piece of video game design ever (despite how awesome Fusion as a whole is).
