Don't forget, the PSP has really only been on the market 3 years this Xmas. I honestly feel that a large number of the developers for the PSP aren't really tapping into the full power of the handheld. This will come and there are signs that we are getting closer. Chains of Olympus is looking twice as good as any other game on the platform at the moment. Crisis Core is looking damn good as well.
Also, Chains of Olympus is looking as good on the PSP as GOW and GOW2 do on the PS2. Both these games were released 6 and 8 years respectively into the consoles lifetime.
If the PSP manages to continue for a good few years yet, then I reckon we could very well be in for a treat.
