 I don't know what GI was talking about , but the dialogue pretty good in the Japanese verion.

That's why.  GI were playing the English version.  English versions of JRPGs tend to have cringe worthy dialogue for reasons beyond our understanding.

 

Yeah the voices in SO3 were mediocre at best. Fayt wasn't too bad, but Cliff and Sophia were just awful.
