While I don't think that people will (necessarily) judge third parties harshly in the generations to come, I do think that their decisions may come back to haunt them ...

My brother won't buy Call of Duty World at War for either the PS3 or the Wii because he believes the Call of Duty series is garbage because of how bad Call of Duty 3 was for the Wii. How many people bought, rented or borrowed a Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, or Far Cry game for the Wii because they wanted to play a decent first-person shooter and was so disapointed that they will never consider that franchise again? When a new Dead Space or Resident Evil game is brought to the Wii (or its successor) how many people will aviod it because they don't like rail-shooters, and how many people who buy it to play a rail shooter will be disapointed when it is a third-person shooter or survival horror game?
