Ive always used AMD's mostly because ive never had problems with them. Still have an Athlon 2600+ running in my basement for downloads and such. its 6 years old and it needed new mobo, new CD drive, 3 new videocards...but CPU keeps on going. Do CPUs ever die?

Well I've never had a CPU die on me but they're supposed to.....they say when u O/C you shorten the lifespan of your CPU....I've been doing it like forever and the thing just won't die man. And yes, it's AMD

Well, CPUs are designed to last 30 years or more, so even if O/Cing cuts that by two-thirds, that's still more than the lifetime of a PC. Of course, most O/Cing won't shorten it at all because CPUs are very generously spec'd and will run happily at 20-30% faster forever as long as the temperatures are reasonable.
