The PS3 came out of the gate pretty strong, and it is likely that a large portion of the population who bought a PS3 decided to buy a few Blu-Ray movies to try out. Now, most of the people who bought a PS3 are primarily gamers and are unlikley to continue to buy a large quantity of movies for any period of time. Now, if the PS3 was selling better new owners would be buying a ton of movies to take advantage of their "Brand New Blu-Ray player" and the drop in sales of Blu-Ray movies wouldn't be that noticeable. Meanwhile HD-DVD is selling heavily to movie collectors and is seeing a constant steady growth. |
except if that theory were true, the Amazon sales rank for Blu-ray would be falling rather than staying at consistent 250 as Dallas said above your post. Blu-ray sales are better, period. Maybe they'll fall in 6 months, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii
Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
