I can imagine this as a good option for someone who'll only browse and watch movies on their computer, aside from that it will grow old too quickly.
The multimedia aspect of it is the only really worthwhile thing. It's still easily achievable with a normal pc + tv, or one of those media RAID boxes.
I actually had a pretty good setup before switching to the PS3+ media server handling this - had mapped a Logitech wireless controller for launching and controlling Zoomplayer. And since that one allowed for easy browsing and played whatever was thrown at it, it got the job done.
